If it's any indication, Nikon launched their F-mount AF-S 70-200mm f/4 nine years after their first AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8... or twenty-five years after the launch of the first AF 80-200mm f/2.8

But one of their early AF lenses was the AF 70-210 f/4 in 1986

Ok, it didn't last long. For myself, I'm quite happy with the AF-S 70-200 f/4 VR I own for the last 7 years, even at the Z6. So I don't see an urgent need for Nikon to release one with Z mount.
