Abstract: Narrative therapy is a new mode of social work practice which is rooted in the thoughts of postmodernism and social constructivism. Narrative therapy mode can externalize human problems from the perspective of “multiple center” and “to destructing the authority”.Through professional skills of social workers or therapist, families bereft of their only children will be assisted to deconstruct stories considered as problems, and build positive significance by looking for an exceptional event. After straightening out philosophical origin and analyzing methods of narrative therapy mode, this paper will explore case practice when narrative therapy mode of social work gets involved in reconstruction of a family bereft of the only child.
