On 14 October 2021, Ambassador Suzuki visited Bhubaneswar, Odisha. A summary of the visit is as follows:
1 Commemorative Ceremony at Kalinga Institute of Technology (KIIT)
Ambassador Suzuki visited Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and its sister institute Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) to celebrate the starting of a Japanese language program at KIIT as well as cooperation between KIIT and Mitsubishi Group in India. Besides Ambassador Suzuki, the ceremony was attended by Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, India’s Foreign Secretary, who lauded the commencement of these efforts to develop human resources expected to serve as a bridge between the two countries in the future. Based on the MoU signed with KIIT/KISS, Mitsubishi Group in India will accept students with proficiency in their Japanese language from the newly established department. For KISS, they are considering to provide support as part of CSR activities.
2 Japan Investment Seminar organized by Odisha State
Ambassador Suzuki attended an investment seminar entitled "Investment Opportunities for Japanese companies in Odisha" at the Lok Sewa Bhavan Convention Centre, Odisha State Secretariat. From the Indian side, Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Foreign Secretary, Mr. Dibya Shankar Mishra, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Energy of the Government of Odisha, Mr. Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, and Mr. Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary, Industries, Government of Odisha, attended the seminar, and a lively discussion was held on how to attract more investment from Japanese companies into the state.
