Scum and Villainy Cantina is an intergalactic bar nestled deep within the wretched hive of Hollywood, CA. Inspired by the best drinking establishments from your favorite sci-fi and fantasy movies, Scum and Villainy is the geek bar you’ve been looking for.
Costumed bartenders join in the debate while mixing cocktails from a themed menu. Our laid-back atmosphere and strict “no bullying” mission creates a #ScifiSafeHouse not just for casual and mega-fans alike, but for anyone looking for a change of pace from the typical bar scene. Scum & Villainy Cantina was conceived in 2016 by me - J.C. Reifenberg - and my now-fiance Jen on the streets of Chicago. I’m no stranger to the world of geek, and with Jen’s history with bar and restaurant design, we opened SAVC in April 2017 with the intent that it would operate for a few months and then quietly slip away in the night. During that initial pop-up run the comment I heard most from visitors was how much they loved having a place to go where they could be true to themselves AND be with others who share similar interests. That was usually followed up with lament and despair that SAVC was only temporary - so we decided to drop the ticketed entry and open our doors to the geek community here in L.A., and, as it turns out, all over the world! Scum and Villainy Cantina is all ages until 8pm*. Minors are required to have a guardian or a parent with them, meaning if you are 20 you will need to have a legal guardian with you. The reason we do this is to keep over age patrons from being a "cool" friend and ordering a drink for their under 21y.o. friend. Our staff is allowed the discretion to determine if someone is truly in the role of a legal guardian.
No one under 21 is allowed to be inside the space after 8pm and we reserve the right to mark the hands of minors (stamp or sharpie) as we see necessary.

Large backpacks or totes are discouraged - if you choose to bring one, please note that our staff and security team retains the right to search it upon entering the bar.

As much as we love them, pets and fur babies are not allowed. Trained service animals are permitted, however we do retain the right to refuse any animal when their behavior poses a direct threat to the staff or patrons (we do not assume based on breed - only actions we witness firsthand). Please note that all service animals are required to leashed and under control of their handler at all times and the care and supervision (food, beverage, and waste) of a service animal while on our premises is the sole responsibility of their owner.
