AIM
: To evaluate the efficacy of S-1 combined with oxaliplatin (SOX regimen) as neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer.
METHODS
: We retrospectively analyzed 80 patients with advanced gastric cancer who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy from February 2012 to September 2013. These patients received 2-4 cycles of SOX chemotherapy and then underwent gastrostomy with D1/D2 lymphadectomy. Clinical and histological tumor downstaging was statistically analyzed.
RESULTS
: Fifty-six patients (70%) had tumor downstaging and ten patients (12.5%) had pathological complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
CONCLUSION
: SOX regimen as neoadjuvant chemotherapy has high efficacy for advanced gastric cancer.
