While The King is sometimes less than the sum of its impressive parts, strong source material and gripping performances make this a period drama worth hailing.

Read Critics Reviews Aside from the truly terrible attempt at a french accent by Pattinson (which is bad enough to remove you entirely from the immersion) the film starts with potential, but then turns into this very shallow depiction of a stereorypical 'good' english king, and a highly overly-stereotypical, practically saying in Draculas accent "I am the villain!", foreign king. And from the introduction of the french kings character, which is so utterly over the top, the film can't really be taken seriously anymore.
