This search can be used to retrieve public information about adults who have been committed to the Commissioner of Corrections, and who are still under jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections (i.e. in prison, or released from prison and still under supervision).

Please note that it may take several business days for newly sentenced individuals to display on the MNDOC Locator

To start your search, select a search method below.

First Name / Last Name

Your results will include anyone whose name begins with the letters you type. For example, if you enter the last name Williams , your resuts will also include Williamson. If you enter the last name Will , your results will include Williams, Willis, Williamson, Willoughby and so forth. This can be helpful if you are unsure of the spelling of a name.

Additionally, the search includes all names associated with the individual’s criminal convictions. This includes DOC name history as well as names an individual was formerly known as (aka) names. Know that when you search for a name, the results you see may not match up to the name you searched. For example, if an incarcerated person has gone through a legal name change process and have updated their name at DOC, when you enter their old name, the search will still search across their old last name, but your results will just show their new name. Victims and members of the public can request custody status notifications for those sentenced to the Department of Corrections through Minnesota Haven. For more information, see Notification of Custody Status and Release .
