Oppo is one of the few Chinese companies that prefers to focus on the mid-tier Android space, leaving others to fight over the budget market. Rather than competing on the basis of specifications and price, this brand has chosen to associate itself with selfies, and hopes to attract buyers who are willing to spend a little to make sure their social media feeds are well populated. The spotlight is usually on
Oppo's
F-series, with the most recent model, the

Oppo A83 Review
Oppo A83 Summary
The Oppo A83 borrows many features from its more expensive sibling, the Oppo F5. It has a tall 18:9 screen which gives it an advantage in its price segment, as well as the "AI-powered" selfie enhancement feature. This phone has a powerful MediaTek MT6737T processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and performance is quite good. The 8-megapixel front camera and 13-megapixel rear camera deliver average results, with photos looking a lot better on the phone's own screen than on a desktop monitor at full size. Battery life is good, even though there's only a 3180mAh battery. Oppo has ditched the fingerprint sensor and you get face recognition which isn't always as convenient. This phone comes with Android 7.1.1 and ColorOS which is heavily customised to look like iOS.
