俳句被認為是世界上最短的定型詩，近年來以「haiku」的名稱傳播到海外。松山市以近代俳句創始人正岡子規為首，人才輩出，是享有盛名的俳句之城。館內陳列著與正岡子規有關的各種資料，並以簡而易懂的方式介紹正岡子規的生平和松山的文學史。常設展復原了正岡子規與小說家夏目漱石共同居住的「愚陀佛庵（僅一樓）」。
