On 2 May, auditions opened for what would become known as hololive 1st generation. Natsuiro Matsuri was one of five characters revealed in the initial audition announcement, along with Aki Rosenthal,

On 1 June, during her the third anniversary since her debut Matsuri reached 1,000,000 YouTube subscribers during a singing endurance stream. This makes her the 17th hololive member to reach that milestone, and the 12th member of the Japanese branch to do so. She is also the third member of Gen 1 to achieve it.

On 25 September, Matsuri debuted her fifth 2D costume, with this costume Matsuri got two new hairstyle, both using loose hair, but one shows her forehead, she also got two pairs of animal ears, in this costume she wears a big black jacket with decorations in white and red including a belt, there is a small squirrel on the right side of her jacket, the jacket rests below the shoulders, the jacket can be removed, Matsuri also wears a long-sleeved orange shirt and black shorts, her socks and shoes are reminecent of her original outfit as they share the same color scheme. This outfit is really notorious as it includes hand movement and a gaming controller, being the first model in hololive to include such functionality by default.

On 4 June, as part of her fourth anniversary, Matsuri debuted a new hairstyle for her fifth 2D costume. In this hairstyle Matsuri has her front bangs cut and uses long twintails. Additionally she also got a new accessory, a bandaid above her nose.

On 7 July, hololive's Japanese Twitter account announced that the members of the first generation would get their models updated to the 3.0 version.

On 9 July, the members of the first generation debuted their 3.0 models. The update includes various new facial expressions including the ability to have teary eyes or stick out the tongue. They also received new visual cues to emphasize other emotions. They can also wave their hand, hold a videogame controller and use a keyboard and mouse without external assets.

On 23 July, during her birthday live, Matsuri debuted a new 3D costume. In this costume Matsuri uses loose hair with twintails at the sides, the edge of her hair have a pink gradient similar to Roboco-san, she wears headphones decorated with cat ears. In this costume she wears a white top with a black see through section that connects it with the white neck, the top is decorated with a pink bow. On 16 August, as part of the "hololive Summer 2022" event, Matsuri debuted her second 3D swimsuit. Unlike the original swimsuits from 2019 that had individual designs, these swimsuits are meant to be matching outfits similar to the 3D idol costumes. The swimsuits come in two types one with thin straps for the top and a diagonal cut mini skirt and the other one has ruffled straps in the top and an even mini skirt. Both version are white with various patterns including hololive's and Holoearth's logos, hearts and sparks. The swimsuits are personalized by including different colors to match each talent. She uses a dark brown, plaid pattern, plank skirt. Matsuri has black socks and shoes. She can also wear a long blazer with the same characteristics as her skirt. On 30 July, as part of the "hololive Summer 2023" event, during a karaoke relay, Matsuri debuted her third 3D swimsuit. The 2023 swimsuits are inspired in a sailor uniform. Members wear a two layered swimsuit, the first layer is blue from the straps going down diagonally to the center where each member has a mostly blue bow but one of the sides and the brooch are in one color representative of each member. The rest of the top is white. The edge has a semi circular cut. The lower piece of the first layer has two variants, one is a two layered blue skirt decorated with a white belt, a golden chain with some decorations hanging from it and a bow to the left and planks to the right. The second version is mostly the same but they wear blue shorts instead of a mini skirt. Matsuri uses the shorts. The second layer of the outfit is a matching striped bikini in white and another color depending on the member.

She has a mascot called Ebifrion, part-lion part-fried shrimp. This is a pun on the words "Ebifurai" (fried shrimp) and "lion."
