This incense has a warm scent. It is not too strong or overpowering. It smells a little sweet, and a little spicy. I have purchased it many times. I will continue to use this incense for a long time.

Cozy, sweet, and comforting

I'm on my third box of Baika-ju. I just love its cozy sweetness. The dominant aroma smells to me like warm, creme brulee with a touch of cinnamon, creamy sweetness. There is a very faint resinous & woody background that rounds out the sweetness. Baika-ju smells a lot like the temple incense from Ryoan-ji in Kyoto, which is also made by Shoyeido. Other Shoyeido incense that have a similar sweetness are Morning Zen, Overtones-Cinnamon, and Vibrant Cloud (Gaun-koh).

Plum Blossom smells sooo good! I'm not good at describing scents but its sweet and fragrant but not so much that its off putting if you don't like sweet scents. Its a nice balance and I definitely recommend if you're looking for a new incense to try!!! :D

Imaginative and poetic
May 7, 2019
This incense is a poetic and imaginative interpretation of ume (plum) blossoms in springtime. It has the melancholy air of the blossoms lining up Haro street in Vancouver on a cold spring day; and at the same time brings the exotic and refined scents of faraway lands. It is warm and musky, with costus root responsible for creating the illusion of flowers with powdered woods, roots and spices that make up this fine incense sticks. I always look forward to burning them in springtime.

Cinnamon Buns!

A delicious cinnamon bun of an incense. I have to admit that I am biased because of my love of cinnamon, but blending this spice with sandalwood is fantastic. Plus, what an amazing price for 150 sticks of Shoyeido!
