    This qualification aims to provide trainees with opportunities to explore the transformative nature of Digital Journalism. Through a range of critical and practical approaches, learners will benefit from a hands-on approach towards the latest journalistic innovations.

    Along in the development of core skills in research and contextual awareness, learners will benefit from industry level insight to the following practices:

    Digital Journalism brings skills and opportunities to those looking to be digital influencers and content providers in social media, radio, vlogging, blogging and more traditional areas of journalism and creative writing. The course uses live projects and production-based exercises to get you involved in using digital platforms, presenting work to audiences and developing a large range of creative skills suitable for employment or Higher education.

    Our Education Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and maths skills as required, depending on your GCSE results upon entry.

    Course options

    5 GCSEs at grade 4 / C or above which must include English and/or Mathematics or a Level 2 Diploma in Media at merit grade with ideally GCSE English and Maths at minimum Grade 4 or equivalent. You will need a positive school report/recommendation/reference from your school/tutor. You must also have:

    A passion for Media

    A desire to work with Digital Media Products

  • A willingness to learn, experiment and develop your skills The motivation to work independently and in groups on practical projects.
  • You will be required to attend an and interview where you will be required to bring evidence of some work. You may also take part in a practical workshop on the day. Details of what you will need to prepare will be sent to you once you have applied.

    16-18 - free 19+ Advanced Learning Loan - £4500 Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £185 Other Costs (payable by all students): £150 Annual Company Contribution

    All of your work will follow a vocational scenario or context that simulates a real-world situation. This course is 100 % coursework. You will present your work in a range of formats. You will be assessed on your research, development and experimentation and final outcomes and you will be encouraged to develop your work and professional practice through evaluation and self-reflection.

    Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Education Programme and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process. The following list offers a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course.

    Please note in some areas where there is a higher maths, English or science content, or where technical skills are required, the entry requirements are higher than stated below. Applicants are advised of entry requirements for individual courses at their interview and this is checked at enrolment.
